Israel

During the months of September and October 2015 (two separate phases due to holiday season), The Geophysical Institute of Israel executed a short 2D seismic acquisition project in the south Golan Heights for Afek Oil & Gas Ltd, utilizing the state-of-the-art equipment including INOVA's 364PLS vibrators and G3i recording system purchased during the year of 2015. Commissioning of new gear and efficiency of the crew led to finalizing the project without any major delays.

Land Oil investigation is ongoing in Israel in 2013.
The Geophysical Institute of Israel conducted a seismic survey on behalf of Zion Oil & Gas Incorporation in the Sharon area at the YOSEF License.
The survey was facilitated with seismic vibrators (Vibroseis®) in a rural / urban environment, which obliged the seismic crew to work by night time (along highway no. 57); to allow coherent transportation along roads and to avoid seismic noise - which could jeopardize the seismic data quality.
The seismic survey conducted along two lines, with a total length of 18.35 Km. in the period between 2.9.2012 to 1.11.2012
As the field acquisition ended, The Geophysical Institute of Israel was awarded to conduct the Data Processing for sub-surface imaging.

Further on 2013 a seismic survey executed on behalf of Zerachlimited partnership in the area of "zerach 400" permit located at the dead sea shore near Mazada.
The seismic survey contained two lines with a total length of 16.8 Km. where the East West oriented line continued into the sea using Hydrophones and crossing the new land exposed due to the regression of the dead sea.
4 Vibroseis were used as energy source and a Gravity survey of some 450 points conducted along the seismic line.

Two seismic project conducted during 2013 for the Infrastructure Market:
An integrated Land / Marine seismic survey conducted for Dead Sea Works Ltd . In the region of Nahal Ze'elim - as part of the plan to relocate the water pump P9 further to the North to reach the Dear Sea reservoir.
4 seismic line in the order of 15.5 Km. were made to map the sub-surface for faults which might be connected to the Sink-Hole phenomena. Vibroseis and Geophones for Land and Air-Gun and Hydrophones were used at the Land / Marine seismic lines.
The 2nd seismic project conducted on behalf of The Dead Sea Preservation Governmental Company LTD. It was located in the vicinity of the Ein Boqek Hotels. The aim of the survey was to find and locate tectonic faults to cope with the constrains of the building code 413.
6 High Resolution lines with a total length of some 5 Km. were executed with Vibroseis as energy source and group interval of 5m. GII awarded the Data Processing as well.

During 2012, GII awarded by Zion Oil & Gas Incorporation, to conduct a seismic survey along a line of 11Km. - from Ashdot Ya'akov to Isaschar Heights. The Dynamite crew used 140 drill holes, each of 15 meters depth - processing of the line followed the field aquesition.

The Geophysical Institute of Israel finalized early on 2011 the seismic survey in the area of "Orly" permit which was conducted for the Zerach oil and gas exploration Ltd. and for the permit operation company, GINKO. GII completed the field data acquisition along a 12 Km. seismic line located near the city of Arad.
The seismic line conducted with dynamite as source, where 240 drill-holes of 10 meters depth were used.
The data processing was facilitated at the GII's processing center in LOD. A Gravity survey conducted along the seismic line and the final results provided with those of the seismic data processing.
Later on 2011, a second seismic survey conducted on behalf of Zerach oil and gas exploration Ltd. and for the permit operation company, GINKO. The seismic line was in the order of 8 Km., semi-perpendicular to the one have been done previously (January, 2011) north of the city of Arad.
The seismic source of energy was Dynamite which was installed in each one of the 10m. depth boreholes, drilled with 50m. intervals. It took some three weeks to end the drillings which were conducted with drilling machines mounted on tractors. The rock type drilled was carbonate with flint layers of up to 3m. thickness. The hilly environment was with access limitation, causing the seismic equipment to be spread out with no vehicles for transportation. The recording process took three days following by Data processing and Interpretation at GII's headquartering in Lod.
Also along 2011, The Seismological Division of GII, conducted on January 26th an explosion of 102 ton of explosives (ANFO type), in the site of Sayarim, South Negev. The experiment has been done for acoustic and seismic scientific causes.
The experimental explosion is part of a scientific research project; an Israeli - European joint venture initiated and financed by theCTBTO organization (situated in Vienna, Austria), which is responsible for the establishment of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT).
The results of the experimental explosion done by GII, will be public domain and the report will be open to all the scientific community - to add value to the investigation of acoustic waves in the atmosphere and earthquake research. The processing and interpretation of the data was done by GII's scientists.
It is worthwhile to mention, that GII conducted similar experiments in the past; on June 2004 an explosion of 32 tons in the area of Sayarim, on June 2005 an explosion of 20 tons in the quarry of Beit Alfa and on August 2009 a similar surface explosion where acoustic wave were monitored as far as 3,500 Km., near Paris, France.

Late 2008, GII acquired 3 lines with total of 21 km on a 2D survey using Mertz M-27 truck mounted vibrators (hold-down weight of 48,400 lb) along the shore of Ashkelon city. Client, Cassal Drilling Pty Ltd  is mainly involved with petroleum exploration in Canada and Israel

During the year 2008 GII conducted some seismic projects in a total length of 17Km.  , on behalf of the Geological Institute  of Israel. These surveys were scattered in various areas: The Valley of Jericho, Yammin Plateau and The valley of Ayallon.

During the year 2007, Seismic crew acquired 7 lines with a total of 52 km 2D using 4 Sercel/Mertz M-26 buggy (hold-down weight of 62,000 lb)mounted vibrators. The client "Zion Oil and Gas" Acquired these 7 lines on its Asher-Menashe License along the Israeli coastal plain on the Mt. Carmel range.
